Move-In Cleaning Checklist
Get an empty home ready for move-in day. Check for settled dust, confirm which areas need attention, and schedule cleaning before the boxes arrive.

The best time to clean before moving in is after you have access and before the boxes arrive. You can reach the full floor, see inside the closets, and put clean dishes on shelves without stopping to wipe them first. Even a place that was cleaned after the previous occupant left can collect dust while sitting empty.
Before you set the date
- Confirm when you get the keys, and ask whether the previous tenant or owner arranged a clean. If possible, walk through or ask for current photos so you can see how much work remains.
- Schedule after painting or repairs are finished and give the visit room before the movers arrive. If there is still construction dust or debris, ask about post-construction cleaning.
- Make sure water and electricity are on. Let the team know where to enter, where they can park, and whether an elevator or gate needs a reservation or code.
- Leave rooms open and empty. If some belongings have already arrived, keep the boxes together so the team can reach the baseboards and floors you care about.
Check the kitchen and bathrooms first
Open the refrigerator and oven to see what the previous clean left behind. Inspect the sink, counters, cooktop, and the shelves where food and dishes will go. If you want appliance or cabinet interiors cleaned, describe their condition and confirm that work in advance. There’s a real difference between wiping settled dust off an empty shelf and removing grease left behind by the previous tenant.
In the bathrooms, look around fixtures and along the tub or shower edge. Clean the toilet, basin, mirrors, and reachable surfaces before unpacking your toiletries. Take a look at any marks you aren’t sure about. Permanent damage or a plumbing issue is worth documenting with the property manager rather than treating it as a cleaning problem.
Leave the floors until the dust settles
Start with reachable ledges, windowsills, and closet shelves, then vacuum or sweep and clean the floors for their finish. Give extra attention to the corners you’ll cover with furniture. If there are baseboards or blinds that need detailed work, make sure they’re included in the visit plan. Set aside a few minutes before the boxes come in to check the rooms you care about most.
Match the scope to what you find
Qinti’s move-in cleaning is often a final refresh after the outgoing clean: we address the dust and buildup that settled while the property was empty, so it feels ready to live in. If the place still needs the work of a full handoff clean, say so when you request the estimate. The move-out checklist helps explain the difference in scope.
